Studies for the Standardization of Training Support Programs

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study is to standardize the training support programs. Five Vocational Competency Development Institutes of KEAD are running training support programs. These programs are, however, not standardized. It is the aim of the present study to provide standardized model of those programs.

Methods : To identify common components of the programs a survey was conducted on teachers and administrators using emailed questionnaires.

Results : The findings show that those training support programs are necessary for every aspect of basic vocational competencies. Furthermore, the degree of necessity appears to be dependent on the type of disabilities. The study suggests the model of following eight key standardized programs: health care program, physical ability enhancement program, assistive technology program, relationship enhancement program, psychological rehabilitation program, on-the-job training program, basic learning skill enhancement program. These programs need to be provided for trainee with special consideration of their individual features and situations not only type of their disabilities.

Conclusion : The significance of the present study lies in suggesting the objective grounds for training support programs and in providing foundation for running the programs in a consistent manner.
